Using evidence in policymaking guide Guide

10. Statistics

The statistics team publishes outputs and provides support across the department and its arm’s length bodies (ALBs) on producing official statistics, performance indicators, surveys and GIS (mapping) and survey tools.

EAU has three statisticians – Tom Knight (Head of Profession for Statistics), Penny Allen and Sam Tuckett.

They work with:

  • policy teams – to provide the evidence they need for policy development and to keep our measurement relevant and up-to-date
  • press office, ministerial support and policy teams – to provide briefing and analysis which uses the best evidence and best numbers available

Involving the statistics team
