ACME/BFI Film Club – The Lodger, Alfred Hitchcock (1927)

Our next screening will be a restoration of Hitchcock’s ‘The Lodger’ (1927); a silent film about the hunt for a serial killer in London. Based on a story by Marie Belloc Lowndes, the film stars Marie Ault as a landlady who suspects her lodger may be the killer obsessed with blonde women in the city. The film also stars Malcolm Keen and Ivor Novello, and was described by the director as ‘the first true Hitchcock film’. This restoration features a new score by Nitin Sawhney commissioned by Network Releasing in partnership with the BFI and performed by the London Symphony Orchestra.
