The ACME Book Club meets, over lunch, at 12:30 on the last Thursday of each month in the basement here at ACME (100 Parliament St venue to be confirmed).
We talk about a new book each month, which has chosen by Book Club Members. Members vote from a short list, based around a different theme each time. Past themes have included the Dickens bicentenary, the funniest novel ever written and European Literature.
After a very informal (and often lively) discussion we all score the book out of 10, and the month’s read is added to our league table.
Occasionally Book Club goes “on tour” and we have evening events. We’ve been on a Dickens Pub crawl, celebrated the bicentenary of the publication of Pride and Prejudice by discussing all things Austen over a glass or two of red wine and we go to see film adaptations of some of our reads.
