4. What you can claim
- your advance for a travel or car parking season ticket will be for a minimum of three months but can be for longer periods up to a year
- you can apply for a maximum of £400 to buy a bike
- if your contract is for less than a year, you can only apply for an advance in proportion to your contract eg if your contract is for six months, you can only apply for a season ticket loan for six months or a maximum of £200 for a bike
- if you are buying a bike, you will only get an advance if the bike is used for your usual journey to and from work
- the advance can cover the cost of a bike as well as safety equipment eg helmets, lights, reflectors, fluorescent jackets
