Unions in ACME

Unions in ACME are collectively known as the “Departmental Trade Union Side” (DTUS), which officially consists of three unions:

All three Unions have distinctive constituencies: PCS covers the main administrative grades D to A; FDA covers SCS grades (and fast stream); PROSPECT represents the specialist grades.

PCS is the largest Union in ACME; the PCS Chair is also the Chair of DTUS.

Industrial relations and partnership

Good industrial relations are a key element in any modern organisation. Organisations that work in partnership with their recognised unions are far more successful and better places to work.

To underpin this partnership approach at ACME, the ACME Board and DTUS have signed a Partnership agreement and Code of practice on negotiation and consultation. These agreements set out key principles under which DTUS and ACME management conduct business.

Each party is committed to the future success of ACME and to improving the services provided to Ministers and the public. Each party is committed to providing staff with job security, equality of opportunity, career development and a safe workplace for all staff. These and other matters are kept under review in the code of practice.

To maintain good and effective industrial relations, ACME ensures that accredited representatives have sufficient time to undertake their representative duties effectively. These arrangements are set out in the ACME facility time agreement.
