3. Retirement age and options

Retirement age

If you joined the SCS:

Prior to 30 July 2007 The normal retirement age is 60. You can retire any age post 60 without receiving an actuarially reduced pension. This applies to those with the Principle Civil Service Classic, Classic Plus and Premium Scheme Pension.
After to 30 July 2007 The normal retirement age is 65. You may also retire from 60 if you choose to take the actuarially reduced pension terms. This applies to those with the Principle Civil Service Novus (Nuvos?) Pension Scheme. Email the administrator My CSP for further details

 

Options

Retire early If you decide to retire between 60 – 65 inform HR in writing giving 3 months’ notice.
Retire at 65 When you reach 64 HR will automatically write to you about your forthcoming retirement. You have the right to request  not to be retired and also to appeal if this is refused
Stay on beyond 65 It is open to SCS to work beyond 65. Read the Retirement Guide
