Changing grades Task

Pay on promotion

From the date you are promoted you will receive pay at the rate of your new grade – this is will the higher of either the range minimum or a 10% increase on your existing basic salary.

Reverting to you substantive grade

If you return to your substantive grade following temporary promotion, your pay will be calculated as if you had remained in your substantive grade for the same period.

Downgrading

If you transfer to a lower substantive grade for inefficiency, disciplinary or personal reasons your starting pay will be calculated as the point you would have reached had you started in the lower grade.

Mark-time arrangements

If you change grade and your new pay is lower, the difference will be paid as a ‘mark-time element’ until your substantive pay increases (as a result of performance pay awards) and the mark-time element decreases to zero.
