Allowances Task

You may receive an allowance in the following circumstances:

• Specialist allowance – paid in specialist posts such as press officers and economists
• Private Office allowance – paid in designated Private Office posts

Allowances vary by post; HR will need to approve all allowances. HR will also advise if your allowance is pensionable.

Specialist allowances

If you are working at grades A(U), A or B and are qualified as an accountant, auditor, economist, statistician or procurement specialist, you will receive an addition £4000 as long as you remain in that specialist post.

If you are a communications specialist you’ll receive the following allowance at:

• Information Officer – £1500
• Senior Information Officer – £4000
• Grade A/7 – £4000
