No 10 briefings Task
Every Wednesday at midday, when Parliament is sitting, the Prime Minister takes oral questions at the despatch box. These can be on any area of Government policy. No.10 commissions briefing on any area covered by the ACME they think may be raised.
Question types
- an accusation – provide lines and background to refute the accusation
- a request for an update of ACME policy in a given area
Steps
- Parliamentary Team will ask you for briefing and forward guidance and a template
- Read the guidance and complete the template
- Return your briefing to Parliamentary Team
Timescales
Requests for briefing are often made on the day it is needed and so deadlines are very short deadlines. We cannot negotiate for more time. This is because briefing:
- is mostly reactionary – in response to recent issues
- has to go through several stages: ACME Private Office, Cabinet Office, PM’s Private Secretary, PM
