Overview

Follow the steps below to produce a command paper, to be laid in the House.

Step 1

Identify a publishing date with Parliamentary Branch.

Step 2

Request a command paper number or House of Commons number:

Email the National Archives  or phone 01603 553 227

House of Commons number
Phone The Journal Office at the House on 020 7219 3252

Step 3

If your final document is:

Under 10 pages
Use the ACME template and ask The Stationery Office (TSO) to print only

Over 10 pages or contains complicated charts or tables
Send text to TSO and ask them to typeset and print

Step 4

Contact TSO on 020 7394 4571. Tell them your printing option from the table above and the:

  • proposed laying/publishing date
  • title of the report
  • number of pages
  • number of copies required (including Parlimentary’s allowance)
  • command paper or House of Commons number

They will give you a production timetable and costs.
