Anti-bullying and harassment guide Guide

Overview

You should be working in an environment free from any form of bullying, harassment or intimidation which may constitute unacceptable behaviour at a personal level. Persistent or gross harassment will be treated as grounds for disciplinary action and may result in suspension, dismissal or expulsion from the Department.

Dealing with harassment and bullying

If you think you are being bullied or harassed in any way, do not tolerate it.

  1. Address the issue immediately. If you feel unable to talk about it, make a note of the incident(s) and how this made you feel, including dates and details which will help you recall events clearly at a later date.
  2. Talk to your manager about the incident. Or talk to your countersigning officer. You can also ask HR or a trade union representative for advice or support.

You can use the complaints procedure to raise the issue, if you are worried about privacy.

If harassment is repeated or the informal procedure is inappropriate, the issue will be processed as per a formal complaint.
