    Who is it for?

The Carers Network is open to anyone who has an interest in carers’ issues – you do not need to be a carer to join the network. It is likely that many people will be a carer of some kind, at some point in their lives, and even those who are not currently caring for someone may be interested in the Network. The Network welcomes everyone!

Carers often don’t know about the help and information on offer to them, which means they can miss out on availablesupport. This network is where carers can access helpful information, pulled together in one place to make contact with other people in a similar situations, and to get their views and concerns heard.

The Network will be largely online, with most information exchanged by email or posted in this forum. We will aim to hold 2 or 3 face to face meetings per year if that is what people want and it ill be up you how you would like the network to run.

If you are interested in joining the Network, please contact Alison Yearley (x6411).

    What does it cover?

Clare Pillman, has agreed to Champion the Network which aims to:

    • Provide advice, information and support to staff with caring responsibilities and their managers
    • Promote respect and understanding of the pressures that carers can face and reducing the sense of isolation experienced by some carers
    • Provide informed comment on matters of policy that relate directly or indirectly on people who are carers
    • Raise awareness of the barriers that carers face in the workplace
    • Contribute to the development of an inclusive and accepting department that recognises and values its people
    • Help to build and maintain the Department’s reputation as an employer of choice
